About the Law

The United Arab Emirates ("UAE") has introduced a new Data Protection Law, 'Federal Decree-Law No (45) of 2021' in September 2021 and entered into force on 2 January 2022, to govern the collection and processing of personal data in the country. The executive regulation is due to be issued within six months of the issuance date of the Law and is expected sometime around March 2022.

He holds Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics & Communication along with several professional certifications recognized globally including CISSP, CDPSE, CISA, CISM.

Christopher Beveridge, Director, Risk Advisory Services and National Head of Privacy & Data Protection, BDO 

Christopher is a Director within Risk Advisory Services and is National Head of Privacy & Data Protection for BDO. Chris has specialisation in advising and assisting clients on data protection and privacy issues. His work involves educating organisations on the subject of privacy, writing and advising on privacy policies and procedures and providing guidance and advice around the management of an organisations privacy control environment. He also acts as a DPO for a number of organisations through the outsourced DPO service offering that BDO provides.

Chris is is a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (‘IAPP’) and holds the Certified Information Privacy Professional - Europe (CIPP/E) qualification and is also an accredited data protection trainer for the European Commission. He is also a qualified Chartered Accountant qualifying with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW) in 2008.
