EmaraTax | VAT Portal Update

The Federal Tax Authority (‘FTA’) is set to launch a new user friendly and enhanced platform – “EmaraTax” on Monday, December 5, 2022. EmaraTax will significantly enhance the way that taxpayers can access the FTA’s services, pay their taxes and obtain refunds. The new platform also greatly enhances the ability of the FTA to administer taxes in the UAE, enables better, faster decision-making and earlier engagement with taxpayers that need support.

All existing users will be automatically migrated from the old system to the new platform. Existing users will be receiving an email on their registered email address to change and set a new password for the EmaraTax portal.

We recommend you watch out for the email and reset your password when requested.

We also recommend that you take screenshots of all the tabs (Dashboard, VAT returns/ refunds/ applications, My Payments, etc.) available on the existing FTA portal as a precautionary measure, to prevent any loss of data during the transition process.

The website (https://eservices.tax.gov.ae/) to access the FTA’s online services will remain unchanged after the transition to EmaraTax.

There are some interesting changes to the look of the portal and the access to various taxpayer services. The FTA has held a number of webinars on the functionality of the EmaraTax portal and will be uploading the recordings on the portal here.
