UAE VAT News – UAE Tax Amnesty extended to 31 December 2022

The Federal Tax Authority (FTA) has published a cabinet decision (Cabinet Decision No. 108 of 2021) that will extend the deadline for the tax amnesty to 31 December 2022.
Under the terms of the original amnesty provisions (introduced by Cabinet Decision No. 49 of 2021), administrative penalties that had not been settled prior to 28 June 2021 could be reduced to 30% of the original amount if the full amount of the tax and 30% of the penalty was paid by 31 December 2021. Taxpayers that have not yet taken advantage of this relief now have a further 12 months to do so.
The FTA has not published any guidance on how the extension will be operated - Watch this space for more updates.
